AI Engineer - Agents & Automations
About Capalo AI
At Capalo AI, we are accelerating the green energy transition by maximizing the value of large-scale energy storage systems through artificial intelligence and optimization. Our platform, Capalo Zeus VPP™, operates battery energy storage systems as a virtual power plant, helping asset owners generate higher revenues while supporting a more resilient and sustainable energy grid.
The role
As an AI Engineer focused on Agents & Automation, you will build practical AI solutions that change how teams work day to day. You will build agents and internal automation, connect them to our systems and data, and own solutions from early idea to production. You will play a key role in building the AI capabilities we use across the company.
Key responsibilities
Stay up to date with the fast-moving AI landscape, experiment with new tools and approaches, and bring valuable ideas into the company.
Build and maintain AI agents, internal tools, and automated workflows used across the company.
Develop reusable tools, agent skills, integrations, and patterns that enable teams to build on top of existing AI capabilities rather than starting from scratch.
Connect AI tools to our APIs, databases, internal systems, and other data sources.
Evaluate and improve agent quality, reliability, cost, and safety through testing, monitoring, guardrails, and feedback from users.
Collaborate with engineers and domain experts to understand problems and turn them into practical technical solutions.
Own solutions end-to-end, from an initial idea or prototype to deployment and day-to-day use.
What we're looking for
Strong software engineering skills, especially in Python, and the ability to build solutions end-to-end using modern AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
Hands-on experience building applications with LLMs, AI agents, tool calling, or similar technologies.
Experience working with APIs, databases, and existing codebases.
Ability to work with loosely defined problems and turn them into practical solutions.
Comfortable taking ownership, working independently, and adapting in a fast-moving environment while collaborating with people across different teams.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with agentic systems, MCP, RAG, evaluations, or workflow orchestration.
Hands-on knowledge of AWS, cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, or internal automation.
Background in energy, electricity markets, trading, optimization, or another data-heavy domain.
