Asset Onboarding Engineer
Location: Helsinki, Finland (Hybrid) · Kuopio or remote within Finland · Relocation support available
Bring Europe's grid-scale batteries online
We're looking for an Asset Onboarding Engineer to bring new battery assets and hybrid renewable parks onto Capalo Zeus VPP™, our virtual power plant that forecasts, optimizes, bids, dispatches, and operates grid-scale battery storage across European electricity markets.
Onboarding is where our platform meets the real world. Every new asset comes with its own hardware, integration specs, and market context, and connecting it correctly is what lets it start trading and dispatching safely. This role sits right at that point: technical enough to work through integration specs and test connections, and close enough to customers to keep onboarding moving.
It's also an AI-forward role. We expect you to use AI tools to move faster across everything you do, from reading specs to writing and checking code to drafting customer updates. That's core to how the team works, not a nice-to-have.
About Capalo AI
Capalo AI develops software that turns grid-scale batteries and hybrid renewable parks into actively traded energy assets through Capalo Zeus VPP™, our fully managed virtual power plant for forecasting, optimization, trading, dispatch, and operational control.
Zeus VPP operates continuously across European electricity markets, integrating with wholesale, balancing, and ancillary service markets while coordinating state-of-charge-aware dispatch across battery portfolios.
What you'll work on
Onboard new battery assets and hybrid parks onto Zeus VPP, from first integration through to live operation
Work through integration specs and asset documentation and turn them into working, tested connections
Test integrations end to end: verify data flows, command delivery, and dispatch behavior before assets go live
Communicate with customers and asset-side partners to gather what's needed, close gaps, and keep onboarding on track
Write and adapt code where it's needed for integrations, tooling, and testing
Use AI tools throughout to work faster while keeping quality high
Work across the production team's tasks, pitching in wherever onboarding and operations need support
What we're looking for
Required
Experience in a hands-on technical role: integrations, QA or testing, implementation or solutions engineering, technical support, or similar
Comfort reading technical documentation and integration specs and turning them into working setups
A testing mindset: methodical, detail-oriented, and careful about correctness
Strong communication, including working directly with customers or external partners
AI-capable: you already use AI tools to do your work faster and better, and you want to push that further
Coding ability (Python)
Nice to have
Exposure to energy markets, electricity markets, battery storage, or grid services
Industrial or machine-to-machine protocols (MQTT, IEC-104, Modbus, SCADA)
Production experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
Experience in a startup or another fast-moving, ambiguous environment
Why Capalo AI
Real-world impact. The assets you onboard go on to trade and dispatch in European electricity markets.
Variety and ownership. You'll own onboarding end to end and get real exposure to the broader production work that keeps assets running.
AI-forward by default. We build AI into how we work, and this role is a chance to push that further.
A growing domain. Battery storage is becoming critical infrastructure for the energy transition, and we're building the software that enables it.
